HOW DO I SAY THIS DELICATELY? I DON'T: FEELING POLITICAL

Young people are idiots. This years election is very important to me, being that this will be my first time being able to vote for president. Last night, I had a very disturbing conversation with someone who is clearly not informed, and knows absolutely nothing about either candidate. He's black, and he says to me, "Black people are only voting for Obama because he's black". I asked if he had proof of this, he had no proof. I went on to explain to this young man that if he believes blacks are only voting for Obama because he's part black, then it is fair for me to say that the only reason white people are voting for John McCain is because he's white. Clearly, that's a stupid and unfair thing to say. Then, he goes "Obama aint gonna do shit", so I asked "Oh, so you're voting for McCain?" He goes "No, I'm a democrat. But I don't see color when I vote for people, I'm about who is going to do a good job, but please don't talk politics to me because I will shut you down" What? So, he's voting for Obama, yet he thinks Obama isn't "going to do shit". I then asked, "If you believe that someone isn't going to do shit, why put them in office? So what if you're a democrat, if you're for the betterment of people, and you don't see color just become independent. You're a hyprocrit", he goes "I'm already signed to the democratic party dumb ass" Signed to the democatic party? There's no legal binding saying you HAVE to vote for a democrat, even if you identify as a democrat. He then says, "Well, I didn't know that." So wait, you tell me you know so much about politics, yet you thought you were legally binded to vote democratic just because that's the party you identify with? Idiot. On his part, the name calling began, he immediately got on the defense, and he felt threatened, which made me realize that this conversation was pointless, I was dealing with someone who knew nothing about nothing. He asked me, "What is Obama going to do?" How can you ask a question that you don't even know the answer to yourself? Not only do I know what is on Obama's agenda, I've done my research on McCain as well, because although I am definitely voting for Obama, I needed to know what's on both candidates agenda before I elect either into office. I have found Barack Obama's plan to be very detailed, well thought out, and promising due to all of the work he's done in the past and in the present. He's is for change first and foremost, and I'm sure you all agree that a change is long over due. Obama is for the equality of minorities as well, an issue that John McCain does not mention in his agenda, and over all Obama is for the betterment of the American people, women and minorities more specifically because the fact of the matter is that blacks, other minorities, and women are still struggling for both gender and racial equality. There is no reason that in the year 2008 women are still earning 67 cents to every one dollar a man makes, and we are left with very few ways of challenging our superiors. Obama plans to tackle these issues, and many others that make me proud to place my vote with him. I hear people say how admirable John McCain is because he was a POW, and he defended his country but that means NOTHING to me. I don't believe in war, and if he wasn't in Vietnam, in a territory that CLEARLY hated America, he would not have become a POW, plain and simple. Common sense tells you don't go where you're not welcomed. People have the idea of what an American should be so twisted. I'm against war in any fashion. Aside from the fact that I couldn't care less about McCain's badges of honor, what I've found his entire agenda is focused on is naming islamic extremist as the enemy, the government, and he touches upon health care, but it is clear that just like George Bush he is a war driven person, and the proof is in the pudding considering his naval career. People, young people especially, need to wisen up. If you're going to take a stance on something, please know the facts first. Obama needs to be in office, bottom line. Otherwise, we will be living with the same mistake we have been living with for the past 8 years. Think about it, all the people who voted Bush into office are even sick of him, regretful, and ready for a CHANGE! Additionally, I know that Obama will pass a law under the Matthew Shepard act that takes a stance of hate crimes, while on the other hand McCain is not even a supporter of something as simple as gay marriage, so how can we expect him to care for the livelihood of gays? These issues are bigger than black and white, or republican and democratic, this boils down to who has a better agenda, and proven track records, and McCain's history lies in naval training, while Obama has an extensive resume consisting of humanitarian work, and work that will change us as PEOPLE!
